Meet Our Owner — Janine Viner
“I didn’t set out to build a gym. I set out to build the place I wished existed when I needed it most.”
In case we haven’t crossed paths yet, I’m Janine Viner, and Aspire Wellness Hub is the business I built from a very simple, very personal frustration: I couldn’t find anywhere that treated ageing well as something worth training for.
The moment everything changed
I was 45, tired, and quietly frustrated with how disconnected I felt from my own body. I wasn’t unwell. I wasn’t unfit, exactly. I was just... coasting. And coasting, I’ve since learned, is how a decade disappears on you. What pulled me out of it wasn’t a bootcamp or a juice cleanse — it was consistency. Small, unglamorous habits, repeated on purpose, until they weren’t habits anymore. They were just who I was.
Why Aspire exists
Eleven years later, Aspire is the place I wished I’d had back then. Not a gym that makes you feel like an outsider if you’re over 40, or intimidated if you’ve never lifted a weight in your life — but a studio built specifically for people who want to feel strong, capable, and independent for as long as possible. We sit right on Runaway Bay Marina, and honestly, I think the water keeps everyone a little more grounded.
What I believe about ageing
I don’t believe ageing well is about chasing youth. It’s about building a body and a mindset that can keep up with the life you actually want — grandkids, travel, gardens, boats, dancing badly at weddings. Every program we run at Aspire is designed around that one idea: strength today is freedom tomorrow.
Outside the studio
When I’m not at Aspire, you’ll find me spending time with my beautiful family, enjoying a delicious meal cooked by my husband, or catching up with clients who’ve become genuine friends over the years. That’s the part of this job nobody warns you about — how much you end up caring about the people who walk through your door.
If you’re thinking about starting, or starting again, I’d love to meet you. Come and say hello next time you’re at the marina — the coffee’s on me.
